Bucket Brigade

Today was the first meeting of the Bucket Brigade!
Megan Threlkeld, Rachael Campbell, Mrs. Campbell, and the Pommerening Crew met at the Campbells. We got out the phone book and started calling restaurants that would possibly have 5 gallon buckets to donate, as well as telling each manager about or cook off and inquiring if they would be interested in making a donation for a giveaway or award.

We had pretty good results today, several giveaway donations and a few willing to donate buckets.

We will continue in our quest to call the restaurants of the surrounding area, and will eventually have further dates to go and pick up the buckets. Some requested we pick up the buckets weekly and others every couple weeks.

We are needing to get as many in our group involved to call local businesses to get donations for prizes as well as a silent auction at the Chili Cook-off. We divided the calls into categories and are asking that each family be responsible for one of those areas. Please email me to let me know which your family would like to take. I am happy to help you with a script for the phone calls if you need one, or if you have questions. Categories will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.

Categories:

  • Oil change places/sporting-goods stores
  • hair and nail salons
  • book stores
  • clothing stores
  • electronic stores
  • The Campbells are working on restaurants and recreation
  • The Pomms are working on restaurants and Hotels

Please keep praying for our mission!

Cookie Mix in a Jar Fundraiser

We are planning on a few fund raisers to help all of our homeschool teens to get to Mexico in May.

Mrs. Janet Beam had a great idea of selling cookie mixes in a jar. Our cookie mix pre-sale has begun! After we get all our orders we will be making them and deliver them the first week of March.

Each Jar will cost only $8.00.

Here are the types of cookie mixes we will be selling.
  • Oatmeal Fruit Cookie Mix
  • M&M Oatmeal Bar Mix
  • Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookie Mix
  • Bounty Cookie Mix

If you would like to order a Cookie Mix in a Jar to help us go to Mexico you can email your order to untoharvest@hotmail.com or contact
Melissa Pommerening or Janet Beam

Thanks,

Nuevo Laredo

Where are we going?

Right where the boarders of Texas and Mexico meet there is a little town called Nuevo Laredo.
Nuevo Laredo is part of the Laredo-Nuevo Laredo Metropolitan area with a total population of 718,073. We will be staying at Rio Grande Missionary Help ministry in Laredo, TX, and traveling each day over the boarder into Nuevo Laredo. Missionaries Bill and Carolyn Waldrop have been serving in this area since the 70's and will be providing dormitories for us to sleep in as well as Spanish gospel tracts to distribute.

As mentioned in the last post, we plan to take a minimum of 50 five gallon buckets to the people of Mexico. They will be filled half of rice and half of beans, along with tracts. We even plan to decorate the exterior of the buckets by writing verses on them.

We have discovered that restaurants get their shipments of mayonnaise in these exact buckets we are wishing to use and so Ms. Melissa has set up her "Bucket Brigade".
The Teenagers will be going out February 16th at 3:00pm to many restaurants to see if they will donate the empty five gallon buckets with the lids.
By doing this it will cut back on the amount of money we will have to spend. Each bucket would cost approx $5.( Not including the contents) If we are able to get them all donated we will be saving $250! The cost for the contents will be approx. $10 per bucket.

We also have several other fundraisers coming up and we will expound on them as they develop.

Above all please keep our Mission in your Prayers.

Thank you,
